 Mike Kristoff, Senior Loan Originator at Mortgage Network has spent the last 22 of his 32 year career helping Hilton Head Island residents secure their home ownership dream.
Previously, Mike was with SunTrust Mortgage as a loan originator and CoastalStates Bank where he served as Mortgage Division President.
As a founder of Lighthouse Community Bank, Mike helped build one of the most successful residential mortgage companies that was eventually sold to SunTrust Bank in June, 2003. He continued with SunTrust Mortgage and became one of the company’s national top mortgage producers.
Lighthouse was not Mike’s first successful banking venture. He was also part of the successful management team at Atlantic Savings Bank that was sold to Wachovia in 1991. He managed the mortgage division at Atlantic until starting Lighthouse in July, 1994.
Mike credits his mortgage banking success to having wonderful mentors throughout his career and his father who taught him the character for success. His father’s advice was to always “say what you mean, mean what you say and do what you say you are going to do.” “I’ve taken that advice to heart and have lived by those words throughout my career”, Kristoff said.
A graduate of Leadership Hilton Head, Kristoff has been a staunch advocate for education reform in Beaufort County. He was instrumental in organizing the first charter school in South Carolina.
In addition to his community service, Kristoff donated the land for Bluffton’s new post office and library. “This is my home,” he said. “This is where my children have grown up and where I want to be.”
Mike and his wife Patty live in Hilton Head Plantation and have three grown children.
